MAP has been involved in a relief intervention for the past two years. Currently, MAP is working alongside the Government of Uganda, Gulu and Amuru Districts and the Anglican Church of Uganda Northern Diocese to support the improvement of access and quality in the delivery of basic health services in the target health facilities in seven camps in Gulu and Amuru. Two camps are run by the government and the other five are sponsored by the Anglican Church.

101 Village Health Team (VHT) members have been trained. The six day training is the first in a series of training events that are geared to developing a cadre of health workers that will serve as the community resource persons for health at the household level.

The program began with training VHT's members at Omee II, one of the least served camps in Amuru District, owing to its remote location. Omee II was hitherto relatively inaccessible at the peak of the insurgency that has rendered about 1.4 million people displaced. Located about 60 miles North West of Gulu Town, Omee II has an estimated population of about 11,000 people, and approximately 1571 households. The VHT’s will play a key role in improving access and quality of health services to the community in the camps, as well as to those who elect to return home to their original settlements.
